Developer's Note - OCT 28 Update

Writer

Oct 24, 2025 (UTC)

Greetings Adventurers,

This is Developer H from the DFO Development Team.

This is the first time I've directly greeted our Adventurers, and I hope to greet you again moving forwards. From now on, we plan to reach out through these notes to our Adventurers and share updates and insights about the game directly from our team. Through these notes, we aim to provide more timely and on-the-ground communication to all our Adventurers.

The upcoming OCT 28 update is likely one of the most anticipated updates among our players, and we understand many of you have high expectations and curiosity about it. So, without further ado, let’s move right into the details about the update.

New Advancement #1: Paramedic

The Battlefield Angel

Originally a part of an elite medical support unit of Empyrean, the Paramedic is a combat-hardened soldier specializing in widespread defensive utility for her team, not to mention top-notch offensive support as well.

The Paramedic is a veteran of war, accustomed to dire situations and saving her allies in what seem like impossible situations; earning her the moniker, Battlefield Angel.

Equipped with a medical drone, Aesculapius, similar to the one used by Michelle Curio, she also dons an assault suit in battle that enhances her fighting and healing capabilities. The Paramedic is also highly skilled with technology, coding and utilizing machinery effortlessly in the midst of combat.

Though no longer a part of the Empyrean army, she continues to fight while remembering her fallen comrades, always striving to save one more ally on the battlefield.

Gameplay

The Paramedic will hold a special place within DFO as not just the 5th Female Gunner Advancement, but also as the 5th Buffer Advancement.

Her core mechanism revolves around her unique resource gauge called "Battlefield Data." The Paramedic's auto-attacks and some specific skills accumulate Battlefield Data, which gains a usable charge upon reaching 100%. Up to 3 charges can be saved, and these charges can be used to empower party members or for support.

Another core feature boasted by the Paramedic is her ability to buff her teammates from any distance, and even from any dungeon map. All of her support, from her basic buffs to her resurrection and even her Neo: Awakening skill, can be activated and reach party members regardless of distance or even presence within the same map.

Her support capabilities specialize in shielding her teammates, which can also sometimes apply Super Armor and incoming damage reduction buffs. As a preemptive source of damage mitigation, the Paramedic's shields can greatly increase the survival rates of her teammates, thus adding to the stability of dungeon clears.

However, this can also mean that the Paramedic may be a bit less effective in offering support in situations where her team has already taken extensive damage. Skilled Paramedics must make sure to use their shields effectively so such situations do not arise.

New Advancement #2: Chimera

Uncalculated Madness

Chimera is actually an outcast shunned by society due to being an iconoclastic, utterly crazy troublemaker from Seon who is obsessed with discovering the secrets of her newly-discovered relic, Deformer.

Despite her manic personality, she is quite the genius researcher, inventing a myriad of gadgets and delving deep into the workings of her mysterious relic.

She utilizes a variety of colorful and poisonous chemicals and weapons, as if it were an outward expression of the chaos within her.

Highly unpredictable, her battle style reflects her personality (or personalities?), in that it consists of devastating her enemies by constantly throwing and retrieving an assortment of weapons: from daggers, swords, axes, among others. As an inventor always strapped for money, she has a tendency to recycle and reuse weapons, which might explain her unique, efficient battle style.

Chimera is an insane researcher who, through obsessive experimentation, has come to master the Deformer, allowing her the ability to duplicate and enlarge weapons for even more power and widespread havoc as well.

Gameplay

Although she is the 5th Archer Advancement, the Chimera is a bit different from her sisters. Even though classified as an "Archer", her trait is that she does not use arrows. Instead, she uses her "Compound Bow" to launch deadly projectiles such as swords, daggers, and even axes at her enemies. This, along with her eccentric and miserly nature, is brought to life through her "Recycle" mechanism.

After using a certain weapon type/subset skill, retrieving a recyclable weapon that will be left behind where the skill landed will reduce the cooldown of all skills from that weapon's subset. The weapon can be retrieved by the Chimera reaching the weapon itself, or through her retrieval skills.

However, as to not make her too powerful, her base cooldowns are slightly longer than average, and the cooldown reduction effect will only be activated once per skill.

Make sure to pick up after yourself as much as possible to reach the Chimera's full potential.

Skill Evolution

Through the Skill Evolution system (AKA VP system), you will be able to customize and fine-tune the effects of your characters' skills.

This new system was added with the aim to both revitalize build creativity, and also be a more convenient system to navigate while retaining the functions offered by various systems and content such as Talismans and Culmination Weapons.

As such, previous skill customizing systems such as the Rune/Talisman system will be completely removed, and other elements such as Culmination Weapon options or Disharmony options from Starfield of Memories will be changed on the OCT 28 update.

You will be able to diversify your skills by adding effects such as invincibility, more projectiles, less multi-hits, or just straight-up changing core skill mechanics. As these customization options are more focused on changing the function or utility of the skill, the Total Atk. in regards to skill cooldowns will not change. However, for some skills, changes have been made to balance the casting/attack time of some VP options.

The VP system is not only convenient, but easy to unlock as it will be available right away as soon as a character is Neo: (Self) Awakened. And once it is unlocked, the system is offered in its entirety. No additional effort is needed to unlock more VP points or the like.

Skills that have VP options and are skilled up Lv. 1 or above will be activated in the Skill VP window, and you will have 5 VP points to use. This means you will be able to customize up to 5 different skills for each character.

However, please keep in mind that not ALL skills are customizable, as shown in the following table.

You can choose between 2 variant options which are available for each VP skill. As noted before, not all skills can be tweaked through the VP system, so we hope you enjoy trying out each Advancement's new skill options.

Here are a few examples just to give you the gist of what Skill Evolution will look like.

Skill Enhancement

Another thing mentioned previously was that regardless of which VP option is chosen, there is no change in the Total Atk. output of a skill. Consequently, we've added the "Skill Enhancement" feature to allow for DPS/cooldown option adjustments per skill through the VP system, which were available previously through the soon-to-be removed Rune/Talisman system.

Applicable Skill Enhancement skills and enhancement option details are as follows:

Through the new Skill VP system, we hope you'll enjoy designing your own creative skill builds conveniently and intuitively.

More Content Changes

So far, we've covered the new advancements and the VP system, but we've also prepared the following features in the upcoming update as well.

The addition of Advanced/Legion Dungeon Matching Mode, improvements to Systems/Accessibility features, additions/changes to items, character balancing/improvements, and more will be available in the OCT 28 update. More details regarding these additions and changes will be available on the "Updates" page notice soon.

Update Plan

Finally, we wish to let our Adventurers know of our update plan for the end of this year and early next year.

The Inuyasha Package will be released on NOV 11. And with winter coming around again, we are aware that many of our Adventurers have been curious about when Korea's "Frost Kingdom" Package will come to DFO. We wanted to let you know that we are currently carefully considering when to make it available for our service.

Next, we will be having our annual DFO Awards event this December along with a special DFO merchandise giveaway event.

Lastly, a new Package is scheduled to be updated along with the Inae Dusk War content in January 2026 to start off the new year.

Lastly...

As a developer, I am honored to have had this chance to greet our Adventurers, and thank you sincerely for reading today's Developer's Note.

We know that event rewards have been a bit underwhelming recently, but we have also been planning in the meantime to increase reward distribution during and after the OCT 28 update. As such, starting with this update, I would like let our Adventurers know that we plan to offer more rewards moving forward.

All in all, everyone from the team extends their deepest thanks to all of you who continue to play DFO. I hope to see you all again soon (or maybe another member of our team will be doing the honors next time!) and hope you enjoy the new Paramedic, Chimera, and Skill Evolution content.

Sincerely,

Developer H
