2nd Awakening: Predator

Have you ever taken a close look at the monster inside of you?
No, I'm not talking about any sort of imagined delusion.
I'm talking about the real tragedy that has befallen that battered body.

That monster is always wrapped in the flames of anger,
and it takes some courage to let go of what you've believed in order to look it in the face.
It's a horribly painful process, of course.

But when you face the burning, unclean emotions head on,
and look at it as calmly as you would a reflection in a still lake,
you realize after a long time

that when you look at it, it's been looking at you, too.

Yes, it's a step toward a tragic end,
and there may come a time when one of you will be eaten and this uncomfortable coexistence will come to an end.

But if you don't look away until the very end,
the monster you've encountered will live deep within you, lending you strength whenever you need it.

By then, you'll realize that the monster inside you didn't come from outside,
but was probably growing inside you all along.

Now, look.
The monster inside me
has grown so strong.
